Upper Room Daily Devotional App Reviews

Cant read the right side

Id be able to give this app more stars if I could read the text. The daily devotional text is not formatted to fit my ipad screen. The entire right half of the text is cut off.

So very user friendly!

Ive been a subscriber and reader of the print edition for many years---almost 40, in fact! Its been the foundation of daily devotions ever since. Having just discovered the App, I am so impressed with how efficient and easy it is to use! Every scripture is a link to that verse in the Bible, the Thought for the Day is a link to an expanded version of it, and the app allows readers to see a large-print version as well. And as always, its uplifting and full of other sound Biblical information! Really happy to have found this!

Getting next copy

Just finished March-April edition, went to library to download May-June and nothing there. Having paid for year, you would think it could be downloaded anytime it became available. Not so. Very frustrating.

Needs work

Content great - works terrible - way too many steps

Wonderful content

Worth every penny, have been ready everyday for years in hard copy. So happy to be able to have each day with me now wherever I am at on my phone. It does need work however, please fix so we can open each day without having to reload library every day then hunt for today from the issue every morning. Also please allow us to remove old issues we no longer need or want. Start every day with this reading thank you for giving it to us but please fix

Cumbersome to use

Wish this app was easier to access and use. Needs a lot of improvement. Think Im going back to the hard copy for my daily devotional.

NOT free

Oh yea, its free to download the app but all it does is waste time and space. You have to download all content at $3 a book!!! Make this known up front, please!

Hard to navigate

Too much time required to find the specific devotion for the day.

Great app

Great devotional with links to Bible verse referenced

Very Good Digital Adaptation of an Excellent Devotional

The Upper Room has been an important devotional for three generations of my family. I appreciate being able to view the both as it appears in the printed version, the text only version that is easy on my older eyes and the links to Bible passages and references. Thank you!

Great App but...

Really great app. But something happened to the text & background. Very hard to read. Text size OK. But the text is extremely light. Please fix! Otherwise, I really like the app & look forward to reading it everyday.

Bugs

Im not sure why I daily have to re-down load my booklet. It takes spongy about a minutes but it is a hassle. Why can this app act like an e-reader keeping booklet down loaded and keeping my place for each day. Its a Hassle having to flip Thursday many pages trying to find the day I left off. I had The UpperRoom for almost20 yrs and decided. I wanted to go electronic but now I wished Id never down loaded the app. Please fix the bugs or give better instructions on how to get around he inconvenience. Bh

Great devotional but app needs work

Having read the print version of the UR for years I thought it would be convenient to have an e-version on my phone so I downloaded the app. It was nice to have a link to the Bible verse for the day via the on- page hyperlink without going to my Bible or a Bible app. However, that feature, as well as all other linked content, stopped working suddenly, possibly due to the latest iOS update. Also, as others have noted, the entries are not dated in the index view and you must open the pages and scroll through to find todays date. The bookmark feature does not work and it doesnt open where you left off. Finally, the app must be accessed via the magazine app and is not directly accessible from the home screen. I will go back to the print version when this subscription expires.

Difficult to use!

If this is a DAILY devotion, the app should remember / go directly to today instead of the cover! Every other book / reading app can remember where you were last reading when re-opening the app! Also, how are the bookmarks accessed later? Would it be so hard to add in the referenced scriptures? Could you give us the ability highlight at least?

Love UR - hate this app

This app is very difficult to use. Dont bother. Read it online or grab a print copy. Im trying to figure out how to cancel so I dont have to pay for it again.

Pretty good; could use some improvement

Like other reviews, I say it would be nice to have the app remember the last devotional read, so when it comes up for another reading, you dont have to start from scratch and scroll to try and locate the current day. A calendar or "jump to" feature would be terrific. Why arent they addressing these issues and making improvements? Another problem Im having with the app is that if I cant get on-line through Wi-Fi or cellular, then its not possible to use the hyperlink to the Bible verse that is to be read. I have versions of the Bible on my iPad and iPhone, but its rather inconvenient to switch apps to read them, then return to this app for the reason stated above. It would seem simple to embed the small amount of Bible text into the downloaded version of the Upper Room rather than depending on the Internet to provide it.

Needs some work

When I open the app and choose the current issue, I would like that days devotional to come up.
