Upper Room Daily Devotional App Reviews

Needs work

Content great - works terrible - way too many steps - enough with the Read page - if we open it up we want to read. This would be an easy fix.

Not user friendly

Im very disappointed over paying a yearly subscription of $10. This app is not user friendly. You cannot access the devotional of the day by use of dates. You have to scroll up and down and hope you get near the date you need to read. In addition, you cannot access the daily verse that is part of the daily devotional. There is no link for it. All of this for a $10 yearly subscription? Accessing the " lite " version was easier not to mention free! Very disappointed.

Good Idea, Bad Delivery

If this product would just be delivered in Kindle format that would cure pretty much everything wrong with this app. Looks pretty but not functional. Wont save your place where you left off. Tried it wont renew.

Definitely Needs Improvement

It would be nice to have the ability to access the daily devotional without having to scroll through the pages. Not user friendly at all. Probably wont renew my subscription if this doesnt change.

Content excellent-app clunky, awkward

Needs work! Does not remember last place read, no date on article listing, must scroll or flip many pages to find correct place.

Ok

Although I like the devotional, there are many things that could make the app better. For instance, it would be a great help if it came up to the current day when you opened the book. Adjustable font, choice of bible version, and a bookmark that truly works are only a few of the things that could make this better. As I said, I like the publication but I now wish that I hadnt spent $10 for it. Our Daily Bread is only .99 and does all the things that I wish this one did.

Free?

Why advertise this as a free app? What you download is another advertisement for the $10 real thing! $10 is reasonable for The Upper Room - I like its content. I just dont like the way its presented as a free app when its not!

Misleading

It isnt free. It is only an advert for a subscription! I was actually going to subscribe, though, but its an automatic renewal deal, and Im not doing that. Very disappointing!

Misrepresented

Nothing about this app is free. Dont waste your time. There are truly free devotionals available. Might have subscribed had it not been misrepresented.

Is this free?

I downloaded this app...but I thought it was free! Im not able to open it at all..

Bait and Switch

This is a free download, not a free app, giving Upper Room a black eye for misleading information at best, misrepresentation at worse. Bad PR. Would have loved to have gone green, but instead will pick up a free copy at church.

Not free but great content.

I have used Upper Room for years and now its so convenient to have it on my phone. It costs about $5 to purchase for the year and I dont mind donating that to an organization that tries so hard to make these great devotion books available worldwide. Great easy resource for keeping myself reading the bible daily.

Love Upper Room. App needs work.

Ive had paper upper upper room magazines for years. When I saw the app I thought it would be a great way to save paper and get it automatically. Its free from the church but I decided to do it anyway. Content is great! However, when I click on the Bible verse, its tiny. And theres no way to make it bigger. Pinch and spread doesnt work. If I switch to text mode I can make the font larger but the link to the Bible verse no longer works. Im rather unhappy that I now have a one year subscription... It would also be helpful if the icon could be on a page rather than in the newsstand.

Favorite devotional

For years, I have picked up hard copies at church. I decided to go green and try the electronic version. I love it. There are links to the extra bible verses and to information associated to the text. Each daily devotional is written by a different person from all over the world. It makes each devotional unique. Yesterday I downloaded the update. Now I am unable to open on my IPad please fix:(

Christian

Awesome reflections as I became n touch with this literature n prison n still follow it outside thanks 4 helping me stay strong on the way :-)

Crash

All of a sudden started crashing today on my ipad, cannot open. What happened ?

Great Devotions

I have one suggestion for improvement. I would like to see a link to click for the entire scripture suggestion. That way, the scripture could easily be read and you could return directly to the devotion.

Needs work

Very difficult to get to correct page. Have to scroll thru pages to get to correct day for each use. Developers need to take some lessons from the developers of Our Daily Bread. Cant click on listing of bible verses to read. Will be asking for refund.

Keeps crashing after 10 days

The app worked great for about 10 days bur now goes black and shows nothing when I try to open to it. The Upper Room doesnt support this. Still waiting to get an e-mail from GXTcel, which bought Texterity. Needs a lot of work!

Issues

Version 6.4 has serious issues on the iPhone 5. The article list does not show the date for each article. After selecting an article from the list the forward and back navigation arrows dont work properly. In page view mode the links to the Scriptures and the author information do not work properly. Landscape viewing also does not work on the page mode. I hope these issues can be resolved in the next version I really love reading the upper room on my iPhone.
